Amusing, Odd and Downright Silly

Gold lion's gonna tell me where the light is, ooh ooh, ooh ooh

So, I forgot about this blog, kinda.

Today is ANZAC Day, I feel like I should have baked ANZAC Bikkies or something, but instead, I went to the art gallery to see the Art of the 60's exhibition from the Tate gallery. It was really really good, lots of photos, paintings, sculptures, and lots of inspiration. Lots of stuff by Billy Apple that I liked. They were showing a movie which was why we decided to go in, it was Pink Floyd and the 14 hour technicolour show or something, was very 60's and trippy and psychedelic. Also, it had interviews with Mick Jagger, Michea; Caine, Julie Christie and David Hockney which were all pretty interesting. The one with Mick Jagger made me giggle, because not only did I go and see the Rolling Stones a little over a week ago, but apparently he's still in the country - maybe he was there, haha!
We met Aunty Tracey and Martin and baby Louie at the Gallery, and had lunch there as well. i had Berry Pancakes, oooh they were good!

After we got home, Maud came round to pick up the pig-food, and stayed for ages and watched TV with us - Sensing Murder is on on Tuesdays, I love it! Anyway Maud showed me how to do a purl stitch, since I'm such a novice that all I could do up until now was a plain knit stitch.

Just saw the video for Gold Lion by the Yeah Yeah Yeah's, that song reminds me of when I was little, and my Gran would say to me, "I can tell when you've been lying, because you have a big black lion on your tongue!" Of course what she was really saying was big black LINE, but its not like that makes any more sense anyway!

Tomorrow i have have have to study and write that essay, since ive supposed to have been doing it for about the last six weeks and its due in just over a week. EEK!

YAWN

I hate Wednesdays for the one reason that I have to get up at 6 so I can make it to my lecture by 8.
Today, we didn't even have a lecture because the other design strands had a seminar week or something. So all we did was watch a video about Chanel.
Then, I had to go to the library and research an essay thats not due until after the mid-semester break, because the tutors were supposed to sight the drafts.
I went to tutorial, and Mel was running so far behind that she didnt even bother if we hadn't done a real draft.
I was supposed to have screenprinting in the afternoon, and it was cancelled because the water was off in that building.
So basically Iwent into Uni for nothing.

I've started knitting a scarf to gove me something to do on the bus.

So the mouse, the one in the bathroom, turns out it likes chocolate. Sensible mouse, I like chocolate too. But more specifically, this mouse likes easter chocolate in the shape of bunnies. Mum went to sort out the easter stuff she had brought my little cousins and the like, and there was holes in the bunnies ears, and nibbled feet. It had also started to eat the plastic on a bag of Cadbury mini-eggs, didn't make it through, but, alas, you can't give someone something in a nibbled packet, so, unfortunately, we just had to eat them!

Today I had my Machine Knowledge class, the last one. YAY now I have Tuesdays off! Roger, the tutor, is hilarious without realising it. He's about 70, and short and wiry. Last week he was wearing a trucker cap with an unintentionally suggestive statement on it. I can't remember what it was, but that was funny. The week before, he told Ellen that her name couldn't be Ellen because its a boys name, and her name SHOULD be Alanah. Today he taught us about the blind hemmer. Now, in a blind hemmer, the needle is curved, and moves from side to side - apparently the same sort of needle that they would use to stitch up a person...Roger felt he had to demonstrate this by telling us about one time when he fell off a moterbike and got his mouth mangled. He went on about the beautiful nurse who stitched him up, and how he couldn't feel a thing because she had clutched his head to her busom!
I couldn't get the blind hemmer to do what it was supposed to, and then after class, I had to re-do some overlocker samples, so I was last to leave. I went out to wait for the lift, and just as it pinged to say it was there, a thing walked out of the hallway next to one of the classrooms. I got such a shock - its not everyday you see someone wearing a face-shielding helmet and leathers on the 6th floor of a design building. It only took me a few seconds though, to realise it was Roger, about to go home on his motorbike!!!

Do you realise that you have the most beautiful face?

On Saturday night I had a dream. It was a great dream. In it, I fell in love with a boy. Fell in love once and most completely. Just like the White Stripes did. Or Joss Stone. Or whatever. I was at a hall, like a scouts hall, and we were setting up for some sort of party or fair or cake sale or something. And me and this guy got talking, and we just had this huge connection. He was so pretty too. I was dissappointed when I woke up! It reminded me of the Flaming Lips song, Do You Realize. I don't know why, just did.

Its kind of sad that that dream was probably the high point of my weekend. Not that my weekend was crap, it was just exceedingly boring.

Friday.
Emma and I hear about a "huge gigantic party with everyone from school going" and decide to go. Emma can't get to my house until 10ish, because she has to go and watch swiss mimes with the people she used to work with, and she can't get out of it. So around 10, she came over, and I got changed, she texted Sean to see if he wanted to come with, and we got ready to go. After getting changed 3 or 4 times, I decided to wear the clothes I had been wearing all day. Sean never texted back, and we decided to leave without him. We got to the party at 10.40. Snuck in the back way because we didnt have invites and who wants to pay $2 anyway? From outside, the party looked kinda of hopping. From the inside, it was clear that it wasn't. 6 people on the dance floor, all of them very drunk, and all of them people three years younger than us who were just starting to be allowed out after 10pm. They were surounded by a sea of smoke, aka dry ice, the enemy of contact wearers everywhere. As soon as we took a step into the hall, we were jumped on by people we hadnt seen in four months, who we had been vaguely friends with at high school, who squealed, OMIGOSH ITS SHHOO GOOD TO SEE YOU YOU LOOK SOO HOTT!!!11!1 and then moved on to the people standing behind us. So we moved outside, saw a few people we knew, Zoey and Theresa and Tahlia, chatted to them for a little while, and then they decided to leave. There was no one else there worth talking to so Emma and I went home too. It was 11.20 and we had been there 40 minutes max. It was definately not the most exciting party I've ever been too.

Saturday.
Was Dads birthday. We didnt do anything exciting even though the day before mum had said we were going out for brunch, so I got up early. Issy went to Girls Day Out with her friends, all the way over the other side of the city. Mum and Dad went to see Walk the Line, so I had to go and pick Is up, and then drop her friend Shayna home, and it took me over an hour. Mum promised me petrol vouchers, which I really could use, but she hasnt given them to me yet. Came home, and watched the final of New Zealand's Brainiest Kid. I love that show, they're such little nerds and I know if that show was on 7 years ago, I SO would have tried out. Made Dad a banana cake for his birthday since I'm too broke to afford a real present - it was a work of art.

Sunday.
All the family came around, well, two sets of Aunty+Uncles plus all the cuzzies, including my newest baby cousin Louie, who is only two weeks old!
Was supposed to do the first draft of my essay but I didn't. Didn't go to work, obviously, as I don't have a job anymore. CSI was a really crap episode, so I went to bed early.

OH YES, I LIVE THE ROCK'N ROLL LIFESTYLE OF A UNI STUDENT.
I wish my friends were
a. More Interesting
b. Hadn't all (except Emma and Sean) left the country at the end of 7th form
c. Well actually I wouldn't mind some new Uni-type friends. But this seems an impossibility, since my Uni group is "the quiet group" and it seems like theres some unspoken law against doing stuff together outside of Uni hours. Hmph.

Ah well.

Oh, and this morning I was woken up by Carmy-Worm screeching outside my window. There was a rat in the backyard ("It was this big" said mum, as she held her hands 40cm apart) eating a piece of bread. I don't know what happened to it after all the shouting, but Ratty, DON'T EAT THE BLUE STUFF OR YOU SHALL DIE!
Also, when I went to have my shower, a mouse ran across the bathroom floor. It was tiny and cute though. I still screamed a little bit.

Oh, and I went to North Beach with mum, because she wanted to look at school bags for Worm. I fell in love with the nicest coat. Unfortunatley it was $250 and I don't have a job. GODDAMN PEOPLE, BUY MY TRADEME SHIT!

I quit my job today.

I finally did it. After saying I was going to quit for the last three months or so, I finally did. Only have two more shifts and then I'm jobless.
So to make money, I'm selling stuff. Trademe is the unemployed persons friend.
Also I'm wondering if, seeing as I'm 18, I can get the dole. I don't think I can though because I'm a full time student or something.

I'm tired.

Red Streaks on my Technical Visual Diary

After having red fingernails all summer long, and then having no fingernails (I don't actually mean no fingernails, I mean no nail polish) since being at Uni, I decided on a whim to paint them this afternoon.

Then I was sitting at home (on a Saturday night, yes, I know...) doing homework - which was drawings of different types of skirts into my technical visual diary, something that has to be tidy and precise and done in black ink pen. After around an hour I stoped and had a look back at the drawings I'd done already and realised the red nail polish was scraping onto the page and leaving a crayon-like mark.

OH HOW ANNOYING IT WAS!

Its now 1am. I did about 24 skirt drawings...approximately 1/20th of my visual diary. Luckily I have until the end of May.

My throat really hurts. I wish I would stop getting sick all the time. Damn stupid cold.

It's Saturday

I'm addicted to Creme Eggs.
